- Start: Melville Nauheim Shelter
- The End
Knowing the end of my hike was near, we got a little bit silly while hiking in the early morning.
Unfortunately the weather did not hold out. Highwater warned us that he might not make it to town tonight and it is bittersweet because I really enjoy him. Fire and Little Foot, Class, and I crossed the Vermont Massachusetts border as the skies cleared from a downpour. My feet were soaked and spongy, I was dripping and starting to get cold, but I was so happy. We immediately made our way to the Chinese Buffet and changed into dry clothes in the parking lot. Halfway through our dinner, I got a call. Highwater made it to the road. I am so glad I could pick him up and bring him to the buffet. They celebrated my hike and I hoped to hear from them when they reached NJ.
*** I did hear from Highwater, Classy, Little Foot and Fire, and Too Many as they reached NJ. It was wonderful to have hikers around for almost a full week as I did my best to support them on their hike. Two of them finished, one is rehabbing a knee, and one had to seek medical attention for a skin infection and looks forward to returning to finish the trail soon.
Exactly!
Cheers
