July 22, 2018 – Daily Stats – End to End on the Long Trail
- Hiked 17.9 miles
- Start: Stealth camp at mile 31.2
- End: VT rt 15 mile 49.1
Wow! I was feeling great this morning. I was really moving too. We covered the six and a half miles to Corliss Camp by 10:45 this morning. We have also passed 5 NOBOs along the way. The water source was great at Corliss, but our 15 minute break quickly turned into 45 minutes. The log book had information about a local trail angel and I optimistically reached out.
Turns out our dreary rainy break was exactly what we needed. We summited Laraway Mountain in stormy weather, which made the lookout absolutely spectacular.
With hope of assistance from a Trail Angel we pressed on to Hogback Rd. We hadn’t heard much in response though. We hung out roadside for a while before deciding to book a stay at the Mansfield Inn Bed and Breakfast. We were fortunate that the owners were so generous in their willingness to pick True Friend and me up roadside. We made some phone calls to friends and family from the parking lot while we waited. I even walked back to the edge of the forest for some wild raspberries. Nothing tastes better on a hot summer’s day!
Well, I thought nothing tasted better than than wild raspberries on a hot summer’s day, but tonight that idea may have changed. True Friend and I walked from the Mansfield Inn Bed and Breakfast to the local Chinese Food restaurant. I worked very hard to finish the meal, but it was almost as challenging as the hike itself.
