This hike is tougher than my ankle braces!
What can I say about a 20+ mile slack pack up and over Mt. Mansfield?! It only took me 11 hours. I felt unstoppable! The views were beautiful, and hard earned. When I set out for the day the plan was for True Friend to take the toll road and meet me at the Visitor’s Center with my pack. I could then take it with me. When I made it up the 4 mile climb in under 2 hours I knew it was time to see what I had. True Friend was totally supportive and she offered to meet me at the road whenever I made it. She even found a campground near US2 for us to stay in! Without her support I could not have made it through today’s tough hike over Mt. Mansfield.
I did need earplugs that night. There was a large group of young boys that were all amped up and I was just exhausted, but overall the stay at Little River Campground was lovely. I am so grateful that True Friend made these arrangements for us!
That was a great day. Even though I didn’t get to climb Mt. Mansfield I did get to the summit:) Then I had the opportunity to check out all the cool tourist spots in the area 🙂 Not what I planned, but plan B turn out to be just what I needed.
I’m starting to realize when the plans go out the window I usually end up with exactly what I need 💞 wish you could’ve hiked it with me, but couldn’t be more grateful to have had your support. Wouldn’t be where I am without it.
Happy to be there for you and it was probably exactly what I needed. I may not have been ready for a Mt such as Mansfield just yet 🙂
You’ll be ready as soon as you decide you are! You’re a tough cookie but fear does crazy things. The scramble was definitely intense.
