Last year I bought my first pair of real hiking boots. It was an excruciating process. I have flat feet and most boots I tried on rubbed on the inside of my ankles. Unfortunately after hiking just under 100 miles they looked like this:
You can see the deterioration on the soles of the shoes near the arches…
and the heels started to separate from the boots.
I contacted Campmor, where I bought the boots. When I brought them to the store I was informed that I could pay them to ship the boots back but there was no guarantee that they would be replaced. The customer service clearly left me feeling unappreciated. Those backpacking boots should withstand more hiking than I had done.
I called Lowa, the manufacturer of the boots. They asked me to e-mail them some pictures of the boots. Upon receipt of the pictures, they offered to mail me new boots free of charge and gave me a choice of a few different styles. I chose berry colored boots!
While I am still breaking them in, I know one thing for sure. Lowa offered me superior customer service and treated me like a valued and appreciated customer!
Thank you!
